The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Trailers Review ( For Prim and Welcome to the 76th Hunger Games )

FOR PRIM IS NOT A NON SPOILER REVIEW

Welcome to the 76th Hunger Games is a NON SPOILER REVIEW

If you have not read the ending for Mockingjay Part 2 and have not been spoiled don't let me be the one to spoil you. Technically you can read the first review that one has no spoilers in it but, the second one will.

You have been warned

1st trailer

Welcome to the 76th annual Hunger Games

Like in my first ever trailer review (I'm so happy it was The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Trailer) Link to my Review I will be doing this in categories.

The Beginning

So, they start it off at Finnick and Annie's wedding. I am so happy they got married, Katniss is at the doorway-arch thing-y and then they go to the scene where Katniss is dancing with Prim. (Prim and Katniss moments are so sweet)

Dramatic Pauses

There were tons of dramatic pauses between the sentences. It may seem kinda annoying but it has it's effect and Katniss's voice combined just like gave me goosebumps all over (not really but it felt like it did)

That sentence tho

There's this one sentence where she says:

"He turns the best of us against each other"

Then right after that there's a scene where Gale (ughhh) turns his gun to another soldier and the soldier is pointing her gun at him.

People who have not read Mockingjay be like:

Yeah that other soldier must be the traitor.

People who have read Mockingjay be like:

Oooooo! That was really smart.

Effie has a wig and make up

It;s not really important but in the book we don't get to see Effie until the very end and she's actually auburn or brown hair I think. She doesn't wear any make up.

The Special Effects

As per usual the special effects were top notch and we also get a small glimpse of a bald Johanna and the peacekeeper lizard mutts and they were so scary I'll probably scream in the cinema.

The bit at the end where she's about to shoot her bow and the sound of the arrow against the bow was a nice touch.

2nd trailer

For Prim

My god the feels. Oh the feels. I can't even. It was just so sweet. It was basically about Katniss and Prim's relationship as sisters and it was just.... OMG. I'm fangirling like a maniac. It gave me literal goosebumps and I cried a bit, I'm not exaggerating at all.

It was so sweet and the music playing in the background was phenomenal.

And of course we all know Prim dies in the end (cries before finishing post) and when they go Her Sacrifice Is The Ultimate Tribute, I just started bawling.

Of course the unknowing people will think Oh Katniss sacrifices for Prim because Katniss was featured equally, and the rest of us are like we know, we know!

"Deep in the meadow, under the willow. A bed of grass, a soft green pillow."

Crown of Midnight

Title: Crown of Midnight

Series: Throne of Glass (#2)

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Rating: 4/5

Reading Time: 1 day

Bookworm Appeal: More Calaena, Utter and complete confusion, frustration, and a whole lot of kicking ass awesomeness

Oh No! Not her!

Non Spoiler REVIEW/SUMMARY

OK... How do I not give you spoilers. So...Crown of Midnight is the second book in the six book series, Throne of Glass. If you want to know more you can check out my Throne of Glass Review. But it's basically about this bad-ass assassin, Calaena who has just (this is a spoiler for those who have not read Throne of Glass, well...kind of we all knew it would happen) become the King's Champion and this is what happens after. I loved it it was basically just pure awesomeness, not as awesome as The Hunger Games, but then again nothing is as awesome as The Hunger Games. But, then again most of you guys know I'm biased when it comes to anything vs. The Hunger Games. Anyway, it is an amazing book that you guys MUST read if you haven't and if you have you may continue to the Spoiler Section of this review and to the Non-spoilery peeps turn back and read the first book or the second book while you can...then come back here.

SPOILER REVIEW

1. Nehemia

I can't believe she died. I was not expecting that! Contrary to popular belief I did not cry. I know, SHOCKER cause I always cry but...meh. I guess it was because right after Nehemia died there was a fight scene and I was kinda praying for Chaol's death and all that other stuff. I was also speed reading at the time so if I somehow find the time to reread it, I'll probably cry. But, I have to give props to Nehemia for letting herself be killed to become a martyr to her people and to give Calaena that small push that she very much needed. I give you the three finger salute Nehemia even if you are just fictional.

I'd do Rue's whistle if I could but sadly I can't whistle and if I tried it would just be me spitting and that seems disrespectful.

2. The Ships

When I said complete and utter confusion in the Bookworm Appeal I meant it. You see in the first book before making up my mind I was completely and utterly confused and distressed because both Dorian and Chaol were sweet but like I said Dorian won me over with his charm, humor and love for books. That and he's the Prince and I always pick the prince. I'm biased I know but after reading The Selection...OMG I just realized The Selection by Kiera Cass also has a love triangle with Aspen a guard and Maxon the prince....OMG MIND BLOWN!!!!

I mean Chaol's okay and all but I was just like why are you with Chaol like seriously why? Dorian is so much better. I mean Dorian's so funny and sweet so I didn't really get Calaena's love life in this book. She likes them equally but she's throwing herself in this Chaol situation, I'm not even gonna call it relationship, because she doesn't want Dorian to be an option since he's a Hallivard and all that.

I felt SO BAD for Dorian in this book, whenever we got his POV I was just like Aww-ing the entire time.

And also I think what happened in Chapter 23 was a little rushed I mean it was. I think it was because of the fact that she lost Sam and she didn't manage to have it with him so, she rushes into it because she's afraid she'll lose Chaol before she could share that moment with him, not that I would mind if for some reason she was unable to share that moment with Chaol and have Dorian take Chaol's place FOREVER.

3. Dorian has MAGIC

So....Dorain has magic SQUEEEE!!!!!!! AND Calaena is Fae YAYYYYYY!!!! I am so excited now that Dorian has magic! So Dorian has raw magic that means that instead of just being one thing it can be whatever he needs may it be fire, may it be ice it shall come to fit his likes ( I just made that up ) and CALAENA is the Heir of Terrasen I kind of figured it out thanks to the 3rd books title 'Heir of Fire' so she must be The Heir and her Fae magic must be fire. So I figured this out after checking out the titles of the other books when I was reading Throne of Glass. When he firsts discovers his magic he was standing up to his father and he knocks this wall and the glass pane near the wall shatters and I was like 'Elsa moment' and throughout the book I see him the developing into this awesome King and Chaol is just...there.

4.  Her Faeness

I know she's headed to Wendlyn, to the last Fae stronghold and she's gonna go and bring back the Fam and come back with a vengeance. She bout' to go all SUPER SAIYAN on that King's face. She bout to go get back the throne.

5. I mentioned this in The Ships but...

I'm sorry to all the Team Chaol fans ut there but I have to admit that I was more than happy watching her kick Chaol's ass. I was just sitting there, hunched over my book, chanting "Die Chaol die! Die Chaol Die!"  and when he didn't I was just like SwipeR in Dora the Explorer. You know the whole Oh man! thing. I think I like Throne of Glass better even though I still mess up Throne of Glass with Game of Thrones.Probably because we get more Dorian time.

6. The portal scene

I was so scared that one of them would get stuck in the portal because that is kind of one of the biggest and most used cliches of all time. I wouldn't have cared if Chaol got stuck in the portal cause then Dorian and  Calaena would go off and find him and then they would bond over that period of time and she'll start getting attracted to Dorian and vice versa and by the time they reached Chaol Calorian would be back on track. Did I mention ( Descendants reference ) how dumb Calaena was though. I mean you don't go dabble with the dead and the gates everyone knows that that's not what you do, that there is a line that no one crosses I mean it's in every book that concerns talking to the dead and the fact that she's an avid reader makes me even more disappointed.

7. The Wyrdkeyes

So there are 3 in total and we know the king already has at least 1 key. And apparently they are able to open up portals and bring in creatures. If all three keys are assembled then he can open the portals at whatever time and for how long he wants because with only one key he can open it just long enough to bring in a creature before it closes. We also learn a bit more about the rings but I'm still not entirely sure what sort of magic it is, I know it gives the wearer massive headaches and the king can bend them to his will or at least something along the lines of that. But I'd still like to know more about it.

8. The Dreams

So Gavin came into Dorian's dream to tell him that Calaena was in trouble and Elena comes into Calaena's dreams whenever she needs guidance. He didn't go to Chaol. I think you know where I'm getting at. Which reminds me when they were at the portal and Calaena wanted to get away from Dorian to help Chaol she knocks out Dorian and I'm just like WTF did you just do that! Are you dumb you want to get away okay break away you don't have to knock him out your a FAE you can out run him, how stupid can you be. Really...I love Calaena but she is really frustrating in this book.

There is probably more but this seems long enough so until the next review 'Heir of Fire'

NON SPOILER REVIEW AND SUMMARY

Before I say anything, I just want to thank Ms. Sarah J. Maas. I was pretty much in a reading slump until my cousin pretty much forced me to start reading this. So, I have to thank the author that blessed her writing upon us. (I'm exaggerating this a tad, aren't I)

This book, is amazing I'm pretty much hooked on the series. (it's gonna be about 5-6 books)

There is just so much groundwork laid out, I  can barely understand half of it but you can't blame Sarah, I'm just slow. The world is amazing it's kinda like the early 1800s (I suck at history so forgive and correct the century yourself) when princes and princesses, kings and queens were around and they hadn't made jeans yet combined with fantasy elements, like fae and magic and witches.

The main character's name is Calaena and she's so bad-ass. She's the world's most notorious assassin. When she was a mere babe (I'm using old talk) she was taken in by the King of assassins to be his prodigy. One day, she was caught and sent to a death camp, Endovier, she's been there for year, much longer than any normal human being has ever survived. She's 18 which means she was caught when she was 17. One fine eve, the King decides that he needs a Champion a.k.a. an assassin to do his dirty work for him. So instead of just hiring one he turns it into a contest, letting each member of his council choose someone to participate (kinda like The Hunger Games) in the contest, so that everyone can bet on who's gonna win and stuff. His son, Prince Dorian, chooses Calaena. The story is basically her journey on how she copes, kills people, wins the tests, finds her emotions and all that other stuff.

GO READ IT! Then come back here, then we can discuss. (You can read my review and can you can post your opinions in the comments below.)

REVIEW (SPOILERS)

1. Sam

I'm kinda curious about him. I'm guessing that he's another assassin that was being trained by the King of Assassins and was there throughout her entire training but, my question is what was the reason why they assassinated him, I mean what did he do to get himself tangled up in this mess, you know besides being an assassin. I can't say I'm upset with the fact that he's dead, in fact I'm scared that he isn't, not when we have the usual member of your family/friend isn't actually dead cliche that is commonly used by authors. Why? BECAUSE, it's gonna be hard enough for Dorian to get Calaena back with just Chaol and if you add in her past lover, Dorian would have no chance.

2. The Love Triangle

First we have Dorian, the prince of the country/continent or whatever. He comes of kinda arrogant and slutty but in reality he's just kinda lost. He just doesn't know how to stand up to his dad. I just really love Dorian, and if you still don't know I'm TEAM DORIAN and I ship Calorian for life. Don't get me wrong it's not that I don't like Chaol, I like him and at many points I was on the gate of who I wanted to win over Calaena but, Dorian won my heart. It's just because Choal seems so serious all the time and yeah, yeah he and Calaena do have their moments but Dorian...he's just end game. Dorian is just more open and he's funny and he teases her and their just sooo CUTE! And he got her a puppy and it was just so sweet or when they kissed and the next morning he's like I'm sorry if it was to aggressive I-I ju-just.... OMG I was fangirling like crazy. Choal I saw as a supportive trainer/friend cause he's just so professional you know and we don't see much of his actual personality also given the fact that we see more of Dorian's POV compared to Chaol's ( don't worry Team Choal people you'll get what you want in the second book )  I love when Dorian gave her the books and he was like these are books I've just read so you can read them then we can discuss. I just love it when our favorite characters love to read. The part where he gives her the candy and her teeth are red and he's like I gave you three pounds of candy and you already ate half of it and we haven't even eaten breakfast is so cute. I'll probably put the scene at the bottom.

For some reason I see Dorian as Peeta from the Hunger Games or Jeremiah from The Summer I Turned Pretty Series by Jenny Han which I should probably do a review about and I see Choal as Gale or Conrad respectively.

3. When she broke it off with Dorian

Some people (TEAM CHAOL PEOPLE) can argue that it's because Dorian likes her more than she likes him. Valid but, we see throughout the book that she holds herself back when she's with Dorian and tries not to get attached. She's just so busy with the tasks and figuring out tthe Wyrdmarks and stuff that she doesn't want that commitment and she's a smart girl and of course she realizes where Queen Elena is going with the whole you could do so much as queen and the you have to be the King's Champion and stuff and how she gonna be queen by marrying Dorian then overthrowing the arse of a King and become the warrior Queen like Elena. Or my other theory is that she's the heir of the Fae cause of the thrid book title also by the fact that Queen Elena said something about blood ties don't break. This story was influenced by Cinderella too and what does Cinderella do she marries the prince. So conclusion is Dorian is endgame and sorry Chaol.

4. Nox

I like Nox. I do and although some people are kinda upset by the fact that she trains him, we all know that she's better so I didn't...really mind and plus she needed an ally. (again getting this whole Hunger Games vibe again) and she asked him to escape and I'm kinda hoping that we get to see him again maybe in the 3rd or 4th book.

5. Arrogance

I'm surprised that she didn't realize what they were doing when they asked her to keep in the middle of the pack she didn't even realize that she couldn't be awesome as to not draw attention to herself and make her a threat to others so they would focus on taking out the other competition until she unmasked herself and show her true awesomeness. It was kinda entertaining to see how much it stifled her progress.

6. Hollin

Hollin is Dorian's younger brother and from what I've read he's a little brat just like my younger brother, jk, not really. It seems like he's gonna wreak havoc if he ever comes home and throw amazing Temper Tantrums like the boy is it Collin, from The Secret Garden. Thank god there was a snow problem or something making him unable to come home. I might not want him to come home but I guess it would be kind of fun to see how Dorian reacts to a temper tantrum.

7. Nehemia

The princess of Eyllwe. I knew she was hiding as soon as the part where they stop at the Wyrdmarks and she's just like let's go do something else does things are probably not important at all. Like that pretty much gave away. I knew she knew about them but I didn't know to what extent and apparently she's pretty much a magician and her whole family are magicians and it's a talent that has been passed down for generations in her fam. I like how she an Calaena are able to bond and how Calaena were able to bond and she doesn't just have two boys to talk to but an actual girl.

8. The Murders

So we have the murders of her fellow champions. I did not expect Cain, for some reason I didn't even guess that it was Cain, I was actually picturing Nox as the murderer, I know DUMB! But,... I have no good excuse but, I know he was using some sort of creature that concerned the Wyrdmarks and Wyrdgates.

9. Wyrdmarks/Wyrdgates

I was already sure that these two were linked because of the names and also because of Queen Elena. Because when they said that the Wyrdgates are actually portals and that Elena was actually from a different universe? I thought that maybe the tomb was under the part of the garden that had the Wyrdmarks near the clock tower.

10. Kaltain

So throughout the book she has these horrible headaches and has to take Opium and I'm wondering if she has it due to her Opium addiction but, there's a part where it mentions that the headache gets worst when the Duke twists his ring that both he and the King have.

11. The absence of magic

So in this book magic has been outlawed and there was this huge mass murdering or genocide of anything magic but in the end of the book you know that the king knows his stuff and is also apparently using magic himself so it's basically like in the stereotypical high school where the cool kids are like me and my posse can use magic but you can't cause you aren't fab like us.

12. The EPIC end BATTLE

Before I get into that I just have to mention the tasks where they get paired up and have to spar and she's paired up with Verin. So Verin is in there ready to fight he's got his knives and swords out ready to attack and she's just like I don't even need weapons and she beats him down and it was so awesome and the whole handkerchief part at the end was just the icing on the cake, the cherry on the sundae (sorry i'm just really hungry) But, back to the final battle, it was kinda hard to keep track of what was happening but like I said I'm just kinda slow.

There is so much more I wanna write but this is already so long and like me we have very short attention spans so I hope you like my review. Remember to comment who you ship, do you think Calaena is the heir and no spoilers about book 2 and the rest of the series. Remember to SUBSCRIBE and blog ya later (that was lame)

Love,
Leeya

“Of course." He picked up the brown bag of candy on the table. "What's your . . ." He trailed off as he weighed the bag in his hands. "Didn't I give you three pounds of candy?"
She smiled impishly.
"You ate half the bag!"
"Was I supposed to save it?"
"I would have liked some!"
"You never told me that."
"Because I didn't expect you to consume all of it before breakfast!"
She snatched the bag from him and put it on the table. "Well, that just shows poor judgement on your part, doesn't it?”

“You like to read?” She raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you?”

“She moaned into her pillow. "Go away. I feel like dying."
"No fair maiden should die alone," he said, putting a hand on hers. "Shall I read to you in your final moments? What story would you like?"
She snatched her hand back. "How about the story of the idiotic prince who won't leave the assassin alone?"
"Oh! I love that story! It has such a happy ending, too—why, the assassin was really feigning her illness in order to get the prince's attention! Who would have guessed it? Such a clever girl. And the bedroom scene is so lovely—it's worth reading through all of their ceaseless banter!”
